Biography of Uwe Boettcher
Uwe is a graduate student from Germany. He studied Electrical Engineering at Dresden University of Technology from 2003-2008. In 2005,
he received his Vordiplom and specialized in Precision Mechanics. He also worked on several research projects
at the Institute of Electromechanical and Electronic Design chaired by Prof. Jens Lienig.
Uwe's most recent project there was the design of a linear actuator for the oscillatory operation of a reciprocating piston compressor.
This work was supervised by Thomas Boedrich and a prototype was built. He joined Prof. Talke's group for an internship in August 2007 and worked on his Diplom-thesis towards his degree in Germany.
In September 2008 he received his Diplom-Ingenieur degree (corresponding to the Master of Science) in Electrical Engineering from Dresden University of Technology.
After that Uwe started a doctoral program at UCSD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
Besides his work, Uwe enjoys sports, especially jogging. He also plays the guitar and likes to entertain people with his music.
