Biography of Ryan Taylor
Ryan was born in 1976 and grew up in the small town of Lafayette, Indiana, across the Wabash River from Purdue
University. He studied mechanical engineering, electromagnetics, and acoustics at Purdue and recieved a BS in
Mechanical Engineering in 1998. He worked for 2 years in a particle accelerator lab at Purdue. Ryan started his PhD
program at UCSD in 1999. His research interests include noise sources in magnetic record channels, and the fluid
mechanics of the head tape interface.
