Biography of Peter StraehlePeter was born on May 14, 1975 in Berlin, Germany. He attended the Max Reinhardt High School in Berlin-Hellersdorf and got his "Abitur" (diploma) in 1994. After a year of military service he began to study Electrical Engineering at the Dresden University of Technology in Oct. 1995. There he achieved his prediploma in 1997 and then he specialized in Precision Engineering with focus on development and design. During his studies he had internships in several companies like Siemens and Deutsche Telekom . At the present Peter spends the 9th semester of a 10-semester program as a visiting scholar at the Center for Magnetic Recording Research (CMRR) at the University of California, San Diego . His current project deals with the relationship between the cross track motion of magnetic tape and the quality of the read back signal in linear tape drives. In this project he measured and analyzed the cross track tape motion of different tape drives. After finishing his work in this project Peter will write his diploma thesis (master thesis) at the Dresden University of Technology. |
