Biography of Yiqian Wu

Yi-qian Wu was born and grew up in a Chinese southeast coastal city, Fuzhou (Fuchow) in Fujian Province. He is a graduate student at the Department of Applied Mechanics and Engineering Science at the University of California, San Diego. His first project at the Center of Magnetic Recording Research was about using liquid film lubrication technology for extremely low flying height head-disk interface application. Currently, he is working on the head-tape interface project which includes the interferometric measurement and the numerical modeling of the head-tape spacing of a linear tape recording device.

In China, he graduated from The University of Science and Technology of China in 1986, with a major of Precision Machinery and Precision Instrumentation. After that, he was a graduate student at the Department of Precision Instrument in Shanghai Jiaotong University, working on the development of a robotics tactile sensor.

He loves to play bridge and tennis. Also, he likes the southern California beach life!

Yiqian now works for Quantum corporation in Shrewsbury, Mass.
