Biography of Joshua K Benedict

Joshua Benedict was born in Murray, UT. He received his Associates (AS) degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2002 from BYU-I and his Bachelors (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2004 from the University of Idaho.
Josh has worked in the engineering field since May 2003, where he has been involved in various engineering fields. His engineering projects/experience include: designing nuclear waste cutters to be employed in a hot cell environment for Argonne National Laboratories (Now part of INEEL), designing and detailing flexure arms (sliders) for Magnecomp, working as lead manufacturing engineer in charge of automated production floor for Molding International Engineering (MIE). Josh currently works as a research and development engineer for Flowserve Corporation in Temecula, CA.
Josh is working on his Masters degree (MS) under Professor Talke in the area of laser surface texturing (LST). This master's research is a joint effort between UCSD and Flowserve. The master’s research will be applied toward mechanical seal technology to improve sealing performance by optimizing hydrodynamic affects created through the LST at the sealing interface.
