DE graduated with his PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 2004 from the University of California at Berkeley, where he concentrated on precision manufacturing. His specialization is on precision manufacturing techniques, including optical fabrication and semiconductor processing. He also has a background in sensors for precision manufacturing. He joined the Talke lab in 2005, and is currently working on sensor-based monitoring of brush wear in motors.
