Dr. Andrey Ovcharenko is a new postdoc in Professor Frank Talke’s group. He received his Ph.D. at the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion). Andrey’s dissertation was entailed “Experimental investigation of junction growth in elastic-plastic spherical contact”. His research mainly focused on fundamental investigation of the contact mechanics problem of a single asperity contact subjected to combine normal and tangential loading. At CMRR, Andrey will be mainly involved in simulation of stress induced magnetic erasure and scratch formation in PMR media. Andrey enjoys outdoor sports, such as, mountain ski, tennis, and hiking.
